OUR JOURNEY
Melissa
In 2018, my husband and I moved to Prague for what we thought would be a one-year adventure, teaching English and exploring the city. However, we quickly fell in love with Prague’s charm and culture, extending our stay to five years. Although we eventually moved back to the United States, Prague never left our hearts.​
While living in Prague, I was frequently contacted by parents whose children were coming to Prague for a semester abroad. Many of these were friends of friends, seeking reassurance and support for their children. They had countless questions and wanted to know there was someone they could rely on in case of an emergency. Through these experiences, I realized there was a significant need for dedicated services to support international students and expats.
​Driven by my love for Prague and the desire to return, I reached out to my best friend, Laura, with the idea of starting a business to provide these much-needed services. She was 100% on board, and so, Anchor Abroad was born. I now split my time between Franklin, TN, and Prague, and I am excited about the future.

What was supposed to be a short stay has turned into a lasting love affair with Prague, and I have called this beautiful city home ever since.

My passion for helping others settle into Prague stems from my own experience of adapting to a new culture and city. I understand the challenges and excitement that come with moving to a foreign place, and I am dedicated to ensuring that students and expats feel supported and at home here. Whether you’re in Prague for a few days or planning a longer stay, my goal is to help you make the most of your time in this wonderful city.

I teamed up with my best friend Melissa to create a business that provides essential services to international students and expats, helping them navigate their new surroundings with ease. Our mission is to offer the support and guidance needed to make your transition to life in Prague as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
